Ragbrai Night 4 Day 3 of riding…
Today was 58.2 miles and 3,318 feet climb. Sunny skies, warm temps and more hills. The first 20 miles today peeled off good. The roads were in much better shape. No bike break downs today!! We biked a little with the Air Force team that helped us yesterday.
Garrett was riding when a 14 year boy abruptly pulled off the road. He apparently had a flat tire, had never changed one and only had a tube with him, no pump. Garrett started on the fix showing the boy how to do it (he had never fixed a flat tire before) and a couple Airforce service men stopped as well and together they got it fixed and got the boy back on the road. There were a few more accidents that we came up on. Lots of prayers are being said as we ride.
Once again , the hospitality that these towns are providing is incredible. Aaron is loving the quick chats with other bicyclists (of course no chat is quick and I did mentioned that when the cyclist he attempts to engage with keeps riding and in some cases rides faster, he may want to stop talking and pedal). One of our team mates did ask me tonight if they have made a camper out of me and my response was H@@@ No! I live for the day to sit on a real to have a real bathroom again!
